Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc drive the Ferrari F80

The 2025 season has not been particularly memorable for Scuderia Ferrari or its two drivers, Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton. That does not mean, however, that they cannot enjoy themselves behind the wheel of a hypercar such as the new Ferrari F80.

In a video released by the Maranello manufacturer, it is impossible to miss how impressed the British driver was by the Italian brand’s hypercar. Hamilton even described the Ferrari F80 as “the fastest road car I’ve ever driven”.

Hamilton was so taken with it that he is considering adding one to his collection: “I really have to order one of these one day.” The Monegasque driver, meanwhile, was more decisive. When Hamilton asked what colour his would be, Leclerc’s answer was straightforward: “All black.” See for yourself:

Although all 799 F80 units have already been allocated to their respective owners, it is not difficult to guess who two of them may be. After all, the manufacturer itself presents the F80 as the most powerful Ferrari ever made.

Ferrari F80: a new hypercar generation

The new Ferrari F80 signals Maranello’s return to the hypercar segment, more than a decade after the LaFerrari made its debut. The F80 will also usher in a new generation of models from the marque, while retaining its “tradition of innovation and performance”.

Fans of the glorious naturally aspirated V12 engines for which the Italian manufacturer is known may be rather more disappointed. Behind the Ferrari F80’s cockpit sits an engine with half the cylinders and displacement, yet around 240 hp more than the LaFerrari. It is a twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre V6 which, on its own, delivers 900 hp and 850 Nm of torque.

The electrified era of the Ferrari F80

As this is the most powerful Ferrari ever, there is more to the story, as there was with its predecessor. The smaller combustion engine is accompanied by three electric motors - two on the front axle and one on the rear - producing a combined output of 1200 hp and four-wheel drive.

As expected, its performance is remarkable. According to the manufacturer’s stated figures, the Ferrari F80 reaches 100 km/h from rest in just 2.15 seconds, while 200 km/h arrives in the blink of an eye: 5.75 seconds. Its claimed top speed is 350 km/h.
