The Argentine Navy announces the permanent retirement of its Super Étendard fighter-bombers after more than 40 years of service
Today, 20 August, will not be just another date on the calendar for the Argentine Navy and its Naval Aviation Command. During a ceremony at Punta Indio Naval Air Base, the service announced a major initiative to restructure and modernise its assets and capabilities, set out in the “Daedalus Plan”, which will bring an end to the service of numerous aircraft that represented a turning point for the country’s military aviation.
As Argentina extends military secrecy around its F-16s, the US strengthens support for the Peace Condor Programme
Over yesterday and today, the United States and Argentine governments have adopted several measures relating to, and affecting, the Argentine Air Force’s Peace Condor Programme. More specifically, these include the award of new contracts to support and sustain Argentina’s F-16 fighter fleet, alongside the issuance of fresh resolutions to strengthen the military secrecy covering the weapons system.

The Peruvian Air Force’s new F-16 Block 70 fighters will be equipped with L3Harris’s Viper Shield EW system
Only months after definitively confirming the purchase of new F-16 Block 70 fighters to modernise its Air Force, Peru is now moving ahead with the selection of L3Harris’s Viper Shield electronic warfare (EW) system to equip them. The system will improve the aircraft’s survivability in modern combat environments. According to the manufacturer’s official channels, it will enable the aircraft to jam a range of current threats, including missiles, radars and enemy electronic defences deployed to detect and shoot them down.

With Santiago Peña, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and President of the Republic of Paraguay, in attendance at an event held at the First Air Brigade, which Zona Militar attended as the only specialist media outlet, the Paraguayan Air Force received its fifth newly built A-29 Super Tucano attack aircraft from Embraer’s Brazilian production facility.
Brazilian Army Aviation receives the last of its new HM-4 Jaguar helicopters
After more than a decade of H225M-family helicopter deliveries to the Brazilian Armed Forces, the Brazilian Army has completed the receipt of the aircraft allocated to its Army Aviation under Project H-XBR. The final aircraft, an HM-4 Jaguar bearing the registration EB 5015, was formally handed over on 13 August at Helibras facilities in Itajubá, Minas Gerais. It will join the Aviação do Exército (AvEx) fleet based in Taubaté, São Paulo.
