Boeing delivers first two 787 Dreamliners to Riyadh Air in Riyadh

Riyadh Air takes delivery of its first Boeing 787 Dreamliners

Boeing and Riyadh Air announced today, 5 June, that the Saudi airline’s first two factory-new 787 Dreamliner passenger aircraft have been delivered and have arrived in Riyadh. The milestone comes as the carrier expands its commercial operations.

The deliveries advance Saudi Arabia’s aviation strategy, which targets 150 million visitors and annual capacity for 330 million passengers by 2030. Riyadh Air’s fleet plan provides for up to 72 787 aircraft, which will be central to linking the Kingdom with regional and long-haul markets across Europe, Asia, Africa and North America.

The aircraft, registered HZ-RXAA and HZ-RXAB, are 787-9 variants. Each is fitted with 251 seats: 223 in economy class, 24 in business class and four in first class. Alongside these newly built jets, the airline is already operating one leased pre-owned aircraft.

Riyadh Air intends to serve more than 100 destinations by 2030, with initial 787 services planned for cities including London, Cairo and Jeddah.
