Families in São Paulo seeking leisure options that cut children’s screen time while encouraging face-to-face socialising are increasingly turning to cultural activities in shopping centres. In this context, West Plaza, in the city’s West Zone, offers a free weekend programme for children and their families, bringing together theatre performances and interactive workshops. The options range from live shows to recreation areas featuring traditional games. Here are the details of the upcoming attractions:
West Plaza: Full of Stories – free children’s theatre
On Saturday 22 August, at 15:00, Shopping West Plaza will host the show “The Princess and the Beast”. The attraction forms part of the centre’s ongoing cultural initiative, “West Plaza: Full of Story”, which provides free children’s theatre twice a month throughout the year.
Inspired by one of children’s best-loved fairy tales, the play combines romance, overcoming prejudice and the message that true beauty goes beyond appearances. The performance will take place on the third floor of Block A, opposite Game Station, and welcomes both children and adults.
“Our aim is for West Plaza to be a free leisure destination in São Paulo, offering quality options in an appealing, safe setting and with a continuous programme that complements a shopping-centre outing,” says Heli Queiroz, the centre’s marketing manager.
