Chainsaw test: Stihl, Husqvarna and Makita/Dolmar

As the market for chainsaw manufacturers is extensive, we asked fire services which saws they use most often. Alongside market leader Stihl, the names mentioned most frequently were Swedish manufacturer Husqvarna and the long-established Hamburg company Dolmar (Makita Werkzeug GmbH since 2015).

We therefore limited this test to these three manufacturers. Each company supplied two saws: one petrol-powered model and one electric model, which can be used, for example, for safer cutting from an aerial ladder platform.

The manufacturers entered the following chainsaws: Makita/Dolmar's PS7910 and ES2141TLC, plus Stihl's MS 362 C-M and MSE 250 C-Q. In addition to the 560 XP G, Husqvarna provided its battery-powered T536 Li XP. As petrol and electric saws are difficult to compare directly, we selected a test winner in each of the two categories.
